Actigraphy is a wearable assessment technology, tracking sleep and wake behaviours across a 7-day period, monitoring physical activity, rest periods, as well as exposure to daylight and overexposure to blue-spectrum light in the evenings.
A GP referral would be needed to be eligible for a Medicare rebate for a consultation with a Psychologist or Psychiatrist, for example. However, please note the assessment service itself may not be claimable under medicare. To find out if the assessment service can be claimed, please speak with our team.
A referral from your GP or any other health professional can also help the clinician understand the clinical/medical background which may provide more context to the assessment they will deliver.
In general, Medicare does not offer a rebate for the psychological assessment itself, however, a Medicare rebate may be claimed in the initial intake consultation and the follow-up consultation.
Private health funds may offer a rebate for psychological assessments. You are advised to enquire with your health fund provider for further details.
We do not offer assessments standalone. We will need to schedule 3 appointment times for the assessment covering (1) the initial consultation, (2) the assessment itself and (3) the follow-up consultation to discuss the assessment results and further recommendations.
The intake consultation normally lasts 60 – 90 minutes (depending on the treating clinician). The follow-up consultation generally lasts 60 minutes.
Assessments (incl. QEEG assessments) generally last 2 -3 hours.
(Actigraphy Sleep Assessment require the loan of a special wristband for 7 nights. No appointment time is needed. This device can be collected up at the time of Intake.)
