neuroCare Frenchs Forest NSW

Clients can meet with Joanne for assessments and ongoing support on Mondays and Fridays at neuroCare’s Frenchs Forest practice in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Joanne has always had an interest in brain-behaviour relationships and its contribution to human behaviour and cognition.  She shows compassion and empathy working closely with adults, adolescents, children and their families, particularly in the area of ADHD, anxiety disorders, learning, behaviour and cognition difficulties.

Prior to working as a Clinical Neuropsychology Registrar, Joanne worked for more than 30 years as a Registered Nurse, predominantly in Emergency Departments (Paediatric and Adult) for NSW Health. She has also spent time as a volunteer activities coordinator for Autism Spectrum Australia (ASPECT).

Joanne also currently works for Royal Far West (PPT) as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing family support, cognitive assessments, and behavioural and psychological interventions for children aged from six to 12 years of age with a history of complex trauma, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual impairment, and learning difficulties.

Joanne believes many factors can impact day-to-day cognitive functioning, such as poor sleep hygiene, anxiety and/or depression, poor diet, and stressors within the home environment. As there are stigmas and misconceptions attached to ADHD and its treatment options, she often educates parents and/or adults on the underlying physiology associated with ADHD and explore treatment options. Through a range of experiences, Joanne has worked closely with patients and clients facing challenges in life and has sought to offer an integrated approach to client care, combining medical, psychological and neurological models.

Joanne has demonstrated the ability to quickly understand a client’s difficulties and concerns. She provides assistance and guidance to adults, adolescents, children and their families by offering empirically validated education, strategies, and behavioural interventions that are helpful in managing these factors.
