Dr Lidbury completed his medical degree in 1995 at the University of Newcastle. After his initial hospital experience, he completed specialist training in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and a Masters of Public Health (Honours) at Sydney University. For over a decade he worked in this field, in both the public and private sectors and undertook management roles.
It was during this time he observed an increasing amount of mental health issues in the workplace and decided to do further training and become a Psychiatrist. Towards the end of his psychiatry training, he was awarded a Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry by the NSW Institute of Psychiatry and the Addiction Medicine Fellowship from NSW Health.
Dr Lidbury has worked for several years with the Northern Sydney Local Health District in their Drug and Alcohol Service, covering the Northern Beaches and North Shore of Sydney. In addition, he has admitting rights to South Pacific Private Hospital. His special interests are in addiction, including substance use disorders, and process addictions such as problematic gambling and other related behavioural disorders. He also has interests in trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, mood disorders and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
